Friends of the International Center Scholarship

Award Amount

  • Twenty-five or more awards annually of $1000

Description/ Criteria

  • A non-profit organization that promotes international friendship and understanding
  • EAP, OAP, and Global Seminar participants are eligible
  • Awarded on the basis of academic qualifications with a minimum of a 3.3 GPA and overall merit
  • Some consideration of financial need
  • Must be returning to UCSD for at least one quarter (summer not included)
  • Open to Undergraduates and Graduate Students (Graduate students MUST apply through their department)

Service Requirement

  • Must write about experiences abroad for publication in the Friends’ newsletter
  • While abroad, scholarship recipients must send e-mails and pictures about their experiences abroad to our office
  • Volunteer to work the Programs Abroad Office Expo or a General Orientation
  • Volunteer to speak as returnee for an Information Session, Country Session, or Country Orientation
  • Support the Center’s efforts to promote international education upon return
  • All service will be tracked and recorded to ensure fulfillment of requirements

Deadline

  • Winter and Spring Departures: Monday, October 26
  • Summer and Fall Departures: Around March/April
