When to start making arrangements
First - and most importantly - contact Opportunities Abroad Program Director Jim Galvin as far in advance as possible to schedule a visit. If you contact us at least one week before the beginning of each quarter (see UCSD academic calendar), we can include your information in our Quarterly Events Flyer.
Contacting faculty about classroom visits or meetings
It is very important that program representatives do NOT contact faculty, staff or TA’s directly, either for meetings or classroom visits. All contacts with UC San Diego faculty, staff or TA’s regarding programs abroad MUST go through the Programs Abroad Office.
This is to insure that we maintain a positive relationship with faculty and staff on the campus while respecting their busy schedules and agendas. Failure to follow these procedures will preclude further access to UCSD students. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Which days are best?
We suggest planning on a presentation in the afternoon on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays in order to take advantage of the UCSD class schedule and student presence on campus.
Options for your visit
With enough advance notice and planning, we can offer the following advertising options:
- A room for your presentation, at no charge, in our centrally located International Center
- A listing of your upcoming visit on our Quarterly Events Flyer (*note deadline above)
- A listing in the free UCSD Guardian weekly calendar
- You may provide up to 30 fliers that will be posted at least on our own International Center bulletin boards, and sometimes around campus by our student interns.
- Other programs have had success sitting at a table at our main student center, the Price Center, to further publicize their visit. We can usually arrange a free table reservation if we have at least 2 weeks notice.
- We recommend that you contact the UCSD student newspaper, The Guardian, to arrange for a classified ad for your visit. Please be sure to mention that the presentation is held in cooperation with the Programs Abroad Office and mention the date, time and location.
Directions to our office
Maps and directions to the International Center are posted on the the International Center website. The Programs Abroad Office is on the second floor of the building facing Library Walk.
Parking at the International Center is primarily for volunteers at events we host here, and is almost definitely not available on Wednesdays before 1:00 or Fridays before 2:00. Please ask if it might be possible on the date of your event. If not, parking kiosks sell daily permits, and there are also parking meters throughout campus.
Communication about UCSD students on your programs
We ask that you keep in touch with us to let us know which UCSD students are considering or have been accepted to your program.
