Global Educator

Hi! I am a 4th year Sociology major with an emphasis in International Studies in Marshall College. This last summer, I studied abroad in Puerto Rico and had the best time. Words can not describe how truly unique and rewarding this experience was for me. Along with a lot of solo exploring, my program went on many excursions to different communities, rainforests, and historic ruins. The sight seeing was only half of what made this trip so special; the people of Puerto Rico were so welcoming and inclusive. A unique aspect of participating in a Global Seminar is that you become immersed into the culture. The sociology classes I took were about Puerto Rico and their relationship with the United States. This made me very aware of my positionality, making me feel more connected to the people and country. This experience has only made my love for traveling grow, which is why I definitely recommend studying abroad! I’m very excited and open to talking with anyone about my experience and would love to answer any questions!
