Demarie Wlliams

Global Educator

Greetings, My name is Demarie and I am a second year transfer student (senior) from Warren College. I am currently studying International Business (with potentially a minor in Marketing). I enjoy playing video games, listening to music and playing volleyball. Hearing people's experience and sharing my own is something I enjoy doing, so if you ever want to share each other experiences of studying abroad just lmk. Studying abroad has been a main goal of mine ever since I attended high school, and in fact it was one of the main reasons why I wanted to pursue higher academics. It's also what motivated me to wanting to travel more and explore different societies and cultures.

This fall quarter I had the opportunity to participate in the UCEAP fall semester program to Korea Univeristy in South Korea. Due to me already learning the Korean language, having family living in Korea and being familiar with the culture. I felt that this program was the best option for me in terms of the universities that were offered and the amount of support that I was given during the process of applying to the university. Unfortunately, due to my rejection for on campus housing, I had to live off campus. However, that did not stop me from making meaningful connections and creating long-term friendships and I feel like me getting rejected just motivated me more to put myself out there and be more open minded. However, if I am being honest I feel like if I hadn't gotten rejected then I would of never been as social as I was. Anyways yeah the moral of the story is no matter the obstacles you go through, don't allow those things to stop you for doing what you want to do, In fact use them as a form of encouragement to wanting to acheive them even more.
